One of the most popular Garmin portable GPS units is Garmin GPS 12. It is a small and lightweight unit, so this

handheld GPS unit to be an excellent value with inexpensive price.

Garmin GPS 12 is a very accurate unit that uses up to 12 satellites for accurate readings. Some people said, they have never seen it be off by more than about ten feet, and often put them exactly on the spot.

It provides either compass heading or runway path, but prefers you use the compass heading mode for the roadway guidance. It also offers 500 waypoints memory, so you can store a lot of fishing spots. Read the owner’s manual and practice to operate the waypoint input better, because it more unwieldy than another handheld units.

With four AA batteries, this Battery life of GPS unit can get 12 hours. It’s mean the battery life is only enough for one fishing trip. So buy eight AA batteries every trip just to make sure you can get more than 12 hours. But the cigarette lighter cord option fixes the battery problem.

The Garmin GPS 12 have a small plastic console mount that unfortunately it is not strong enough to hold the unit.
